About
Name meaning: Shimo, "frost," for her exceptionally pale skin and white scales. Shurijin, roughly "repairperson," for her family trade, the repair and maintenance of the vessels of Kami.Family: Last surviving Shurijin following the Doman Uprising's failure. Later discovers she has a younger Xaelan half-sister, Mosun of the Tumet.Occupation: Proprieter of ShiShu Designs Fashion Boutique, "where Doman vision meets Ul'dahn excellence," a high-end shop that blends Far Eastern and Eorzean style. While Shimo practices her family trade (as the last person trained to do so), her focus remains on fashion, her truest love.Faith: Believes in the omnipresent multitude of the Kami in the way one would with a fact of one's occupation - not particularly pious, simply treating Them as a fact of life.Current Residence: An apartment in Ul'dah.Style of dress: Her own unique blend of Doman and Ul'dahn fashion, with just a touch of eccentricity based on the strange stylings of Eorzea's many adventurers.Personality: The stark opposite of what her name might suggest. While many can sew, mend, or cobble, the Shurijin family of Doma practices a distinct and singularly important trade: The care for and maintenance of the vessels of Kami. Shimo Shurijin takes to the family trade gleefully from a young age. Despite bearing the name of a winter's frost for her exceptionally pale skin, Shimo is anything but cold!When word of the Garlean war of succession renews revolutionary ferver in occupied Doma, a Shimo of but sixteen summers is sent away to the far-flung shores of Eorzea. Where she had hoped to find common ground amongst Ul'dah's lovers of fineries and relics, however, Shimo finds little more than sand and hunger, being summarily branded yet another refugee.For a time, the young Au'ra gets by sewing and mending for other refugees, but she gets a lucky break when a call for refugee workers brings her into the employ of the Weavers' Guild. There, Shimo hones her craft and makes a name for herself in her new home, all the while working towards her ultimate goal: Establishing her very own Doma and Ul'dah-inspired fashion boutique!
Important NPC Relationships
Redolent Rose: Shimo was first brought to the weavers' Guildmaster as but another refugee laborer. Only with Redolent Rose's tutelage and enthusiastic support, however, was Shimo able to grow into the designer she is day, and she is forever grateful for the chance he gave her.Yugiri Mistwalker: Yugiri's arrival in Ul'dah marked the end of Shimo's Eorzean isolation. With her came news of Doma - her Uprising's failure, her razing to the ground, and the diaspora and loss of many of her people. Shimo was forced to grapple with the guilt she held for fleeing her home and the loss of the family that sent her away so that she could survive, leaving her the only one to carry that family's legacy and work. Clarity and resolve followed hardship, however, and Shimo would later go so far as to follow Yugiri back home to do whatever she could for Doma's final bid for freedom.
